Ohio Tap #2 - Oliver House & Maumee Bay Brewing

In Maumee Bay - Major Oliver's Golden Lager, Tap Profile #625, the Oliver House in Toledo, Ohio was discussed. I've personally visited the Oliver House and Maumee Bay Brewing, so I wanted to share some additional pictures of the brewery, the beer memorabilia museum, and start to profile a few other tap handles that Maumee Bay produces!

The Major Oliver's handle is on display in their tap handle collection below - can you find it?

Maumee Bay has three unique tap handles for their most popular beers - the Total Eclipse Breakfast Stout, Glass Hopper IPA, and the Amarillo Brillo Double IPA.

The flight board of Maumee Bay brews - they had a small batch of Coconut Eclipse on tap that was outstanding! The food was also delicious, especially for a brewery. If you live in the area, it's well worth the trip to try the brews, check out the history, and grab a bite to eat!

The texture of the moon on the top of the handle is really well done! The handle itself is nothing more than a "toy on a stick" - but given the base is unique to the topper, it makes the handle more rare than you standard base with multiple toppers.

A description of the beer from the Maumee Bay site: Maumee Bay Brewing Company’s Total Eclipse Breakfast Stout is a hearty meal in a glass. As it pours, it devours the light and your glass is filled with darkness. This massive beer brewed with espresso beans (from Flying Rhino in Toledo, OH), oatmeal, and lactose offers a rich and complex taste that begs to be savored. With a smooth carbonation and luscious roasted malt flavor, you will fade to black as you slowly sip this finely crafted brew. We recommend serving at 45-50 degrees in your favorite snifter. It’s nothing but total bliss from Maumee Bay Brewing Co. RATED 96 ON BEER ADVOCATE!!
