Tap Handle #30: Eel River Ravens Eye Stout - Raven

This is an incredibly rare tap. Ravens Eye is a beautiful tap with a colorful label. Although the raven isn't very detailed and has a high-gloss finish, it's still quite nice. One of the more treasured taps in my collection.

Eel River Brewing started in Fortuna (Northern California) in 1994 by Margaret Frigon and Ted Vivatson, as the Eel River Brewing Taproom and Grill on the site of the old Clay Brown Mill. In 2007 they moved brewing operations to the defunct Pacific Lumber Company Redwood Mill in Scotia. The brewery in Scotia (as well as the entire town) receives 100% of its energy from a renewable biomass plant. The brewery was also the first in the U.S. to be certified organic. Ravens Eye Imperial Stout has an espresso character, and is based on a recipe originally brewed for the Imperial Court of Russia. It has won several awards, including a gold medal at the World Beer Championships. Recommended food pairing is with a brie & mushroom burger, and a chocolate walnut torte.
