Tap Handle #792: South Beach - Peach Shandy Sparkling Blonde Ale
Rarity: 10 or less seen, nanobrewery, contract brewed, fragile
Mounting: internal 3/8" nut
As I mentioned in my previous post, I have 2 new South Beach taps to profile, and this is the second of the 2. It's just as bright and colorful as the brewery's other taps, but an interesting difference is that the tap does not appear to have a finish over it (or it has a very thin matte finish), whereas previous South Beach taps had a high gloss finish. South Beach's Blood Orange Sunset IPA featured a flamingo character and their Strawberry Orange Mimosa had a pelican character. Here we have a roseate spoonbill as the main feature (see photo of spoonbill below). Sporting a beach hat and sitting on top of a lemon slice, the colors are bright and fantastic. In an unusual twist, the back end of the bird on the tap actually resembles a peach, complete with leaves. The lemon slice has a halo of blue water around it, and the familiar "Frank Sunatra" brewery symbol/character appears at the base and still retains it's fragile points that are prone to chipping off. The peach leaves and bird's wingtips also seem like they could easily be damaged. To my knowledge, this tap has never appeared on the secondary market.

As mentioned in previous posts, there is no entry for South Beach Brewing on Ratebeer, and while Beer Advocate lists multiple beers from the brewery, Peach Shandy is not one of them. However, South Beach's website does have the beer listed as a year round beer, and the beer itself can be found in 6-packs in several beer markets in the Miami area. According to the South Beach website, Peach Shandy is described as follows: "Brewed with 100% real peach and lemon juices and our proprietary electrolyte, this sparkling ale is your perfect beer from sunrise-to-sunrise. Refreshing, easy to drink and simply delicious. Your perfect pool, beach, boat, shower and anywhere companion."
