Tap Handle #11: Kirin - Ichiban Sumo on Bottlecap

This is a fun and unique tap that always gets a chuckle from those who see it. There is another version that features the Sumo hugging a post with "Special Reserve" on the sticker.

Kirin Brewing is a multi-faceted Japanese brewer that also dabbles in plant genetics, pharmaceuticals, and bioengineering. They also are a distributor for foreign brands such as Budweiser and Heineken. Kirin Lager is Japan's oldest beer brand - Japan Brewery was founded in 1885 and became Kirin Brewery in 1907. The Kirin is a creature derived from the mythical Chinese Qilin, a picture of which can be found on the label. Weighted average on ratebeer.com is 2.15 out of 5.
