Tap Handle #809: Pyramid - Snow Cap Seasonal Ale

Tap size:  12.5"

Rarity:  none

Mounting:  3/8" coupling nut

I have a rule that I generally don't collect sports taps, because there are so many teams and sports that I have to draw a line somewhere, especially for financial reasons. Occasionally, however, I will make an exception for a sports tap that is either a team local to me or I'm a fan of, or the tap draws me in with color and design. This Pyramid Snow Cap snowboard tap falls in the latter camp with its bright and bold colors. There are 2 other Snow Cap snowboard taps, one with a red, green and white color scheme and one with green and white colors, but I don't find them as appealing as this one. The tap is made from 2 pieces of metal: the snowboard itself, as well as the back stand that the snowboard and the ferrule screw into. The back stand is painted green, while the snowboard has decals front and back. On the front decal is a tall skyscraper or hotel, with white chairlifts and snowflakes. The brewery name and logo is at the top, with the beer name rotated 90 degrees down most of the tap. The back decal is solid red with white lettering, with the brewery name and logo again appearing at the top and the name of the beer rotated 90 degrees. An unusual feature is the use of a hex-shaped coupling nut instead of a ferrule. There were a lot of these made, and they are easy to find on the secondary market, where the prices vary greatly, from as low as $5-$10 to as much as $50.

Deep mahogany in color, Pyramid's Snow Cap Seasonal Ale is a full-bodied winter warmer, brewed in the spirit of British winter ales. Crafted with a flurry of roasted chocolate and caramel malts, and generously hopped, it delivers a smooth finish that makes this beer the perfect cold weather companion.
