Tap Handle #391: Hops Restaurant and Brewpub - Clearwater Light Mermaid

Tap size:  8.25"
Rarity:  Scarce
Mounting: internal 3/8" nut

Yes I know that the title states this is the Clearwater Light Mermaid, yet the label on the tap says A-1 Ale, but at some point the label was changed (or the base was) from the original. This tap has always been associated with the Clearwater variety. But there's something different about this tap from other Hop Mermaid taps - not only is the face sculpted differently, but the mermaid is topless. I've seen 3 other mermaid taps and none of them had this "feature". I wish I knew the story behind it but it seems to be a mystery for now.

Clearwater Light is a lower calorie, lower carbohydrate beer, named after the original Hops. It is a remarkably clear and light beer that will appeal to the American beer drinkers who enjoy a clean, light beer.

  1. Was it in this fine shape when you got it or did you have it re-painted. Looks great, love it!
