Tap Handle #874: Jarre Creek Ranch - Plowboy Porter
Rarity: 10 or less seen, brewery closed, hand-made
Mounting: 3/8" ferrule on 5/16" anchor bolt
This is the third of four Jarre Creek Ranch taps I will be profiling; previously I profiled their Heffer Wizzen Golden Ale and Pitchfork Pale taps. Like those previous two, the Plowboy Porter features a humorous character, a strong young man with exaggerated features holding on to a plow (his head is definitely too big for his body). Could this be the son of the two characters in the Pitchfork Pale? Could be! It was produced in 2001, the same year as the Pitchfork Pale. Most copies of this tap suffer from the shrinking resin/cracking paint issue; mine, however, seems to be holding up pretty well, but time will tell if that holds true. Not many of these were made, and the brewery has been closed since 2009. That scarcity has helped drive the price up on the secondary market. For a long time (until 2020), when this tap did appear, it could be had for between $100-$200; however, since 2020, only 1 has appeared, in 2024, where it sold for a whopping $400.
For more about Jarre Creek Ranch, see this post.
No beer description has been provided for this beer. Most of my descriptions of beers from closed breweries came from Ratebeer; however, since that site is gone, and neither BeerAdvocate nor Untappd list this as one of Jarre Creek Ranch's beers, no description can be given.
